Surviving Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day can be a difficult holiday for some single parents. Missing someone special in our lives is a feeling we often share. For this Valentine’s Day I suggest we focus on the other special someone’s we have in our life – our precious children.
They may not always seem precious especially at times when they are arguing with us about going to bed, or getting up to go to school, or throwing fits about not wanting to eat their vegetables. However, we all know we wouldn’t trade them for another man or anything else.
But do they know this? I have written before about the importance of Taking Time to Praise Your Child and there is no day better than Valentine’s Day to keep this in mind.
Take time to let them know how special they are to you. You can do this in different ways but here are a few suggestions.
- Make a special Valentine’s Day dessert
- Do something creative together like making Valentine’s Day cards for each other
- Point out special traits you like about each child
- Most of all take time to spend quality time together
